Photography and poetry alike...

_________________www.ampitz.blogspot.com
Becasue of my love to POETRY and PHOTOGRAPHY I was thinking one day how these two fields are interrelated to each other. Then I came out with this statement, "photography is just like poetry, if a POEM, can depict a beautiful image, then a PICTURE can paint a thousand words, too."

To make them together I came out with a term "POETOGRAPHY "showing POETRY and PHOTOGRAPHY intertwined to each other.

I got some pictures that I took and shared at http://www.photolaureates.com/ and let the viewers and other members review them, just like what we do in http://www.iluko.com/ where we post our poems, short stories and everything under literature and let the readers react and review them with the intention that the artwork will be criticized and the ability of the author will be more developed. Photolaureates have the same goal, too.

Here are some of the pictures and some of the comments they gained from http://www.photolaureates.com/:

Picture Title: Calgary Sunset

Date Submitted: August 30, 2008

My Comment: Sunset in the midst of the summer makes the Calgary City's (Alberta) Western sky so beautiful with its majestic orange color. I'm just very lucky I caught in frame.

Reviewer's Comments:

(2) very beautiful sunset, i love the varying shades of orange throughout this photo and the sun being slightly off center.marianne - emtee656;

(3) good shot with your exposure to show the profile of the sun.Would like to see whole cloud on left edge frame.Wait a few more minutes and the sun can be resting on the needle from the building. OH NO!.. will the sun Pop? -croc;

(4) You are right about the deep orange glow, I like the halo effect around the sun, nice silhouette of the skyscrapers.Roy6247.... -roy6247;

(5) Beautiful photo Sherwin and welcome to Photo Laureates. Sunset and silohettes are superb. Thanks for sharing.. Lisa -Lisa7586;

Picture Title: The Boat, the Sea and the Kids

Date Submitted: August 31, 2008

My Comment: A lonely boat caught on one of her lonesome moments. If I were only a boat then I would surely give her a company.

Reviewer's Comments:

(1) Nice shot. Empty yet full. Telling a life's story of a family and a boat without saying much at all. Your photo holds a beautiful composition. Thanks for sharing.. Lisa -Lisa 7586;

(2) I like this picture. It is the kind you can make up a story in your head to. Very interesting! -Candace5571;

(3) The kids give the boat a reason to be photographed and add considerable interest to the pix. I too would crop top and bottom, abandoning the "little information" portions of the image, and placing the story as the focal point of a panoramic photo. Dick -Zambezi;

(4) The only improvements I can suggest ito crop from the top and from the bottom to get the boat nearer tio the viewer. It is original and artistic. Nice composition -longaray2.

Picture Title: Reverse Side of Religion

Date Submitted: September 27, 2008

My Comment: Sometimes when the wind blows so hard, even the most firm religion can be blown away and tumbled down. But it doesn’t matter, keep your faith in HIM.

Comments of Reviewer:

(1) This is very interesting. I am notsure how you got it, but this is a great example of being in the right place at the right time. I am not sure if you got it jsut blowing over since there is no wind in the trees in the picture. So HOW? thanks much for sharing and good luck. Cheryl -Cheryl7283;

(2) Boy, could someone have fun making up titles for this (religion on shaky ground, heading for hell, the lighter side of religion, etc.)! Very interesting shot. How is it that the church balanced on its top? Was this built this way just to get attention? The exposure is nice, with blue sky and good clarity. TED -Joseph1875;

(3) interesting sculpture. in what looks almost to be an industrial area. your have some stark lighting on the front but it doesnt detreact from this very interesting portrait. -Connie3107;

(4) This is cool, is it mounted there? Or was it falling over when you took the picture? -Wendy8570;

(5) Wow How . what .when .were .DangitGreat shot please more about this great photoWell done Thanks for sharing -Buddy;

(6) Wow! This really is an interesting shot. How on earth did you encounter such a weird moment!? It really is a nice shot of a candid moment, too bad the church had to get blown away for the shot though. Thanks for sharing. -Jennifer1381.

Hope you somehow see how poetry and photography are interrelated or similar to each other.
